BAUMAN WINS SUPPORT FROM 7 OF STATE’S 10 DEM CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS
Newsom, Padilla, Ma, Chiang, Torlakson, Horton, and Dave Jones Back Bauman for CDP Chair
LOS ANGELES, CA — Reflecting his widespread support from California’s elected leaders, today California Democratic Party Vice Chair Eric C. Bauman’s campaign announced that it has secured the support of 7 of the State’s 10 Democratic constitutional officers.

Those endorsing Bauman include:

  • California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom
  • California State Treasurer John Chiang
  • California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson
  • California Secretary of State Alex Padilla
  • California State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones
  • California State Board of Equalization Member Fiona Ma
  • California State Board of Equalization Member Jerome Horton

“I am proud that over the last decade, we have managed to turn all of California’s Statewide offices blue, and am equally proud to be endorsed by so many of our statewide elected officials and constitutional officers,” said Bauman. “We must remain vigilant, always fighting to protect the progress we have made under these leaders and others, while working to ensure that all of our Statewide offices remain Democratic in 2018.”

Previously, Bauman has been endorsed by numerous major statewide leaders including LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, former LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, NextGen Climate President Tom Steyer, State Senate President pro Tem Kevin de León, State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, and many others.

Yesterday, Bauman’s campaign announced he had won the backing of nearly 90% of the California State Senate Democratic Caucus.

Which way do we go? [VIDEO]

The CDP Chair’s race has seen sprints to claim labels like “progressive” and “grassroots” or to characterize support through the lens of identity politics.

When it comes to the candidates, as Democrats, there’s not a dramatic difference in our policy views – except on issues like a fracking ban, Prop 61, and Prop 13 reform (to name a few).

The substantive difference is how we see the CDP’s role and its priorities.

I believe the CDP should hire organizers, not build an institute. I believe the CDP should invest in people, not media buys. I believe the CDP should diversify its income portfolio to include individuals, not corporate special interest.

I believe the CDP should hold up our Party platform as our guiding document, not provide political cover. I believe the CDP should build training programs, not cultivate lobbyists. I believe the CDP should direct our collective activism to win elections on the ground, not take orders from state legislators.

Let me be clear: I fully understand the critical operational role the Party plays in electing Democrats, not just across the state, but up-and-down the ballot.

And I would also offer this: in today’s changed political landscape, the California Democratic Party cannot afford to only be about elections.

To really win at the ballot box moving forward, it also has to be about winning hearts and minds. About creating a place for people who want to dedicate their time, talent and treasure to advance our collective values of fairness and justice and equity for everyone.

In this unique moment, we have an opportunity within the California Democratic Party to create what so many people are searching for – not just a house, but a home.

A place to heal and come together; a place to be seen and heard; a place to do the good work on behalf of the people; a place to harness energy for maximum electoral impact while also creating a sense of family.

Today, the California Democratic Party stands at a crossroads. And the time has come for us to choose which way we want to go.

I hope you’ll choose to join me in recommitting this Party to truly being the Party of the people, and in the process, redefine what it means to be a Democrat.

Democratically yours,

The CDP fined $$$. Why It means We Need a “squeaky clean” Controller.

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

Mike Thaller for CDP Controller!
The CDP fined $$$.
Why It Means We Need a “squeaky clean” Controller
.

I’m writing because something happened a couple days ago that may influence your consideration of who you vote for as CDP Controller.

Mike Thaller

What is in this Issue?
1. Clean Money – Clean Future -Clean Controller.
2. Do you Believe?  (Of course you do)

The CDP has been fined for mishandling “Dark” Funds. You can see the details from the LA Times.  In any case, Dark money is tarnishing our reputation and eventually could be the downfall of the Democratic Party as the voters ask, “Is there really a difference between the Democratic Party and the Republican Party?”

This is another reason why we must have a Controller who has never raised money from corporations and lobbyists who don’t agree with our platform or our resolutions.

We need a Controller who, along with the rest of the new CDP officers, especially the new Chair, will start the process of weaning Dark Money out of the Party.

We need a Controller that can not be accused of a conflict of interest.

Please consider that I stand for empowering the regular people of the Democratic Party (AKA:us.)  Consider also that I have experience as a Controller in my professional Career.
WE are the Democratic Party!

Thanks,

Mike Thaller

If you “Believe” please consider donating and/or endorsing at bit.ly/ThallerController

If you agree that the party needs to move back to the people and away from big corporations…

…Please support and vote for Mike Thaller for CDP Controller at the CDP Convention this weekend.
Contribute and/or Endorse.
Please don’t contribute or endorse if there may be the appearance of a conflict of interest

Forward to a Friend!

Democratic Women for Bauman

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

As feminist women leaders, we stand with Eric Bauman for Chair of the California Democratic Party.

We applaud Kimberly Ellis and EMERGE for all the incredibly important work they do for women candidates — let’s be clear about that.  But for this job at this time, Eric is our choice.

Eric walks the walk, when Cheryl Cook-Kallio was running to unseat the only Republican in the Bay Area — Eric was there. When Sabrina Cervantes took on and flipped a Republican seat — Eric was there. When Sharon Quirk-Silva flipped a Republican seat in Orange County — Eric was there. When Dawn Ortiz-Legg ran in San Luis Obispo — Eric was there. When Holly Andradé Blair ran for city council in Lemoore — Eric was there.

Next year, we will need to flip at least 5 congressional seats in California, to protect women’s rights, to secure good schools for all kids, and to protect our environment. We need Eric’s ability and leadership to keep California winning for all of us.

Join us in voting for Eric Bauman for California Democratic Party Chair!
