You are invited!

Friends!

As you all know there is a VERY important race before us here in the City of Fresno. For the first time since 1986, we have the opportunity to have a Democrat mayor and someone that has a track record fighting for working families. Let’s make history this November and help us elect Supervisor Perea as the next Fresno Mayor.

Also, lets remember he is the ONLY candidate that has been a champion for neighborhoods south of Fresno, the most vulnerable, and has been a lead on the High Speed Rail project in our city.  He is the ONLY one that has a vision to help build a state of the art HSR Station in Downtown, which will bring additional good paying jobs and help revitalize the area. Working together we will continue to build a better future in Fresno for ALL families!!

Clinton Proposes Drug Price Control

PRESS RELEASE

September 3, 2016

Clinton Proposes Drug Price Control

FRESNO—The recent highly publicized 400% price increase on EpiPens highlights the motivation behind the Prescription Drug Price Control Plan that Hillary Clinton announced last year. The company that produces EpiPens, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, decided that it had a sufficient monopoly of the market such that it could institute this wild increase and its medically dependent customers would have no choice but to pay.

Mylan is not alone. Between 2008 and 2015, various drug makers increased the prices of almost 400 generic drugs by more than 1,000%. This is not a problem that the free market can solve.

For many of these drugs, there is a relatively small number of people who need them, presenting a big economic risk for new corporations thinking about dedicating production lines to making those drugs. That means there is often not any competition and in situations like that, without stringent government protection, the temptation to exploit a dependent customer base has proven to be irresistible.

That is why Clinton has her plan to support new alternative manufacturers, accelerate the entry of regulated foreign treatments and impose fines on drug companies that implement predatory price increases.

“Affordable drug pricing and universal access to healthcare are essential to ensuring a healthy citizenry,” says Michael D. Evans, chair of the Fresno County Democratic Party. “We need leadership that puts the health of Americans before profits.”

The Fresno County Democratic Party is united behind Hillary Clinton for President. The official Coordinated Campaign headquarters is at 1035 U Street in downtown Fresno. To volunteer or for more information, contact 559-495-0606 or fresnocountydemocrats@yahoo.com.

Supervisor Poochigian Endorses Supervisor Perea For Mayor

Bipartisan Support

Friends and Supporters,

Yesterday I was pleased to announce the endorsement of Supervisor Debbie Poochigian. Together, but as Fresno County Supervisors, we have ensured the County had a balanced budget and high credit rating while sustaining core services through a tough recession. As your next Mayor, I look forward to taking a collaborative, bipartisan approach to leading our city forward. Supervisor Poochigian joins former Sheriff Steve Magarian and other key Republican leaders in supporting fresh new leadership this city deserves.

Sincerely,

Henry Perea

“Keep Tahoe Blue” – Lake Tahoe Summit

Dear Supporter,

This week I attended the Annual Lake Tahoe Summit in Stateline, Nevada.  President Obama spoke to an audience of 7,000, including Senators Barbara Boxer,  Diane Feinstein, and  Harry Reid. These leaders are truly dedicated to preserving the clarity of the Lake, one of the few remaining large clean mountain lakes on the planet.

Over the past 2 decades,  it has taken over 2 billion dollars and the work of thousands of devoted individuals from dozens of agencies and organization to “Keep Tahoe Blue”.

This effort has been successful.  Millions of visitors enjoy the clear beautiful waters every year, contributing billions of dollars to the local economy.

But our work is not over: sediment reduction, invasive marine species removal, fire risk reduction by brush removal and scientific tree spacing, all cost money. The lake has warmed 4 degrees just recently, making Lake protection even more challenging and critical.

Senators from California and Nevada have introduced the Tahoe Restoration Act, providing $ 415 million in funding over the next 10 years for continued protection.

In contrast, our current Congressman, Tom McClintock has introduced his own bill in the House of Representatives.  His bill  provides only $60 million over 10 years.  His bill falls significantly short of the resources required to continue the work started 20 years ago.  It is not  nearly  enough to do the job and it, once again, demonstrates a lack of understanding of what is needed in District 4 to protect our environmental treasures.

I support the Senate Act and the $415 million needed to “Keep Tahoe Blue,” and I pledge to you that I will do everything I can to protect this special place for everyone.

Thanks,

Bob
