Fem Dems of Sacramento Endorse Dan Weitzman for CDP Controller

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

Endorse Dan Weitzman for Controller of the CA Democratic Party

The Fem Dems of Sacramento respectfully urge you to support Dan Weitzman for Controller of the CA Democratic Party. Dan’s countless years of leadership within the CDP are best observed on the local level.  The Fem Dems acknowledge that fundraising can be a huge barrier for women and communities of color to successfully run for office. We continually seek to empower our membership to gain these skills so we can recruit viable Democratic and feminist candidates. To that end, Dan has not only served as mentor to members of our club, but actively participates in club activities year-round. Through educational fundraising training seminars Dan has been an immense ally to the Fem Dems leadership and membership.

As the next Controller of the CA Democratic Party, we know Dan will be innovative in his approach to growing the Party’s finances. He wants to build an app that local clubs and county parties can utilize in their own fundraising operations. He has pledged to go to any county or local club and help them with localized fundraising strategy meetings and most importantly, he will ensure 100% transparency of all CDP funds. Dan will continue the Donate Every Month program which has helped the party grow from consistent small contributions since its’ inception. Dan also understands the daily responsibilities working mothers and fathers have to deal with and how this prevents their full participation in party activities. That is why he will help create a low-or-no cost childcare program for all CDP E-board meetings and conventions.

Please join the Fem Dems of Sacramento in supporting Dan Weitzman for Controller of the CA Democratic Party. Democrats of California deserve no less. Thank you.

Respectfully,

The Fem Dems of Sacramento Executive Board

The Heart of Healthcare [VIDEO]

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

KELogo

It’s been said that nurses are the heart of healthcare – and I couldn’t agree more. Tomorrow marks National Nurses Day and kicks off National Nurses Week.

Whether a best friend, cousin or neighbor, everyone has a nurse in their life they know and love. Be sure to pick up the phone, give them a call and let them know how much you appreciate everything they do for all of us.

On the eve of National Nurses Week, House Republicans passed a healthcare bill that puts profits before people, prioritizes the wealthy over the poor and abandons the most vulnerable. For Republicans and the White House, this isn’t about people, it’s about politics.

California, when it comes to believing that healthcare is a basic human right – it’s time to stop talking about it – it’s time to be about it; and that means passing SB562 and implementing Medicare-for-All.

From the very bottom of my heart, I would like to thank the California Nurses Association and all the front line healthcare workers for everything that they do for us individually and as a society. Not only are nurses on the front lines of healthcare, they are also on the front lines of our healthcare policy here in California and nationally.

Democratically yours,

Please stay connected with our campaign online at www.voteforkimberly.com

HERNANDEZ BUILDS MORE SUPPORT FROM SENATE COLLEAGUES IN LT. GOV CONTEST
Endorsement from Prominent State Senator Steven Bradford Provides Boost to Senator Ed Hernandez’ Campaign for California Lieutenant Governor
WEST COVINA, CA —  Capping off a banner week of endorsement announcements on the campaign trail as he seeks the office of California Lieutenant Governor, today State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez won the prominent backing of State Senator Steven Bradford, who represents California’s 35th District, an area spanning from Gardena to Compton, Torrance, San Pedro to Watts.

Prior to serving in the State Senate, where he Chairs the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee, Bradford served as a member of the California State Assembly and as a member of the Gardena City Council. In announcing his endorsement of Senator Hernandez’ campaign for Lieutenant Governor of California, Senator Bradford remarked:

“Ed Hernandez is a proven leader for working families, good jobs, safe neighborhoods, increased access to healthcare and a strong, progressive California. I’ve seen firsthand his abilities in the legislature and I can attest to his skills, his determination and his commitment to the people of our great state. I know he’ll make an extraordinary Lieutenant Governor and I’m proud to endorse him.”

Significantly, recently, Senator Hernandez released a new online video, titled  “A California Story,” which can be viewed by clicking on the screen image below:

A husband, father, grandfather, practicing optometrist, and local businessman, “Dr. Ed” (as he is known to his patients) has spent his life bringing quality eye care to predominantly low-income communities.  As a health care provider, the need to improve access to health care for all Californians is what first drove him to run for office.

Since being elected to the Assembly in 2006 and the Senate in 2010, Dr. Ed Hernandez has been a leader on the implementation of federal health care reform – helping expand access to affordable health care, control costs, and improve the network of providers so people can actually get quality care when they need it. Dr. Ed has been a champion by expanding educational opportunity to qualified students overlooked by our public schools and universities, as well as a major proponent for government reform, including fixing a broken initiative system too often hijacked by billionaires and wealthy corporations. Dr. Ed Hernandez is running to take this experience, leadership, and vision to the next level by serving the people of California as their Lieutenant Governor.

Dear Sister and Brother Democratic Convention Delegates:

We are all members of California’s Democratic National Committee delegation.  We are a diverse, talented and outspoken group.  We don’t always agree, but the conversations among members of our delegation are frank, constructive and predicated on mutual respect.  As First Vice-Chair of our Party, Alexandra Gallardo-Rooker is a vital and respected member of our delegation.

We are fortunate to have her passion and experience in our delegation and speaking on our behalf at the Association of State Democratic Party Chairs and DNC Rules Committee meetings.  And whether it is her efforts to unmask and combat the Koch brothers’ deceptive “Libre” effort to recruit Latino voters or her GOTV efforts here in California and neighboring Nevada, Alex’s passion and experience lead to real results.

As you face the critically important decision about who should be our next female Vice-Chair, we, her colleagues on the DNC, thought we should share our experiences with you.

The United Farm Workers are proud to endorse Eric C. Bauman as the next Chair of the California Democratic Party.

Founded by Cesar Chavez in 1962, we have fought for workers in the fields who put California’s bounty on your table.

UFW stands with Eric because he’s spent decades standing with us in the fight for increasing the minimum wage, access to healthcare, immigrant drivers licenses, protections for immigrant families, and collective bargaining rights for all workers. And he fought right alongside the UFW last year when we were successful in ending decades of race based discrimination against farm workers receiving the same overtime pay protections as all other workers.

He knows that to win ‘justice for all’ we have to fight — fight for workers, fight for immigrants, fight for those too often left out.

Eric Bauman is the right leader to make sure we win today’s and tomorrow’s fights — stand with us for Eric.

– Arturo S. Rodriguez,

President, United Farm Workers of America
