June is Pride Month. Sign on to affirm your commitment to passing the Equality Act.

As the country grapples with COVID-19 and a defining moment around racial injustice, Pride Month feels a bit different this year.

But it’s important — especially today — that we reflect on the Stonewall uprising and the beginnings of the LGBTQ+ rights movement in this country. We should also recognize the contributions of LGBTQ+ people of color — including Marsha P. Johnson — who led the uprising at the Stonewall Inn 51 years ago.

The Stonewall uprising paved the way for the LGBTQ+ victories of today, and in many ways, the movements against homophobia and anti-Black racism are intertwined. At their core is the idea that every American has the right to live without fear or discrimination under the law. And Pride Month is a reminder that we must redouble our efforts and make much-needed reforms to fight injustice at every level of government.

Last year, I was proud to be a part of the efforts to pass the Equality Act in the House, ensuring that all LGBTQ Americans are treated fairly under the law. Unfortunately, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wouldn’t even let that bill come to the Senate floor.

There’s still work to do, that’s why I’d like to begin Pride Month with a renewed focus on passing the Equality Act. Sign on to affirm your commitment to passing this legislation.

Brynne Kennedy for Congress

After months of following public health guidelines to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, the country is slowly starting to reopen. We’re even seeing signs that some jobs are being added back into the economy.

While these are welcome developments, we still have a ways to go. This is not a choice between protecting lives and protecting livelihoods. We can and should do both — especially in suburban and rural communities that face different risk factors than denser urban areas.

Getting people back to work and helping local businesses and public facilities reopen is critical. But how we do it also matters. That includes not just opening doors and getting information out to folks, but practicing the guidelines that have been put in place by local officials to keep workers, customers, frontline health providers, and vulnerable populations safe.

CA-04 is making great progress on these measures because of the strength and resilience of its people.

To read more about my plans for reopening, visit our campaign website’s page on how we reopen and reignite our economy.

The coronavirus is still here and has tragically taken more than 100,000 American lives. But I am confident that if we all continue to work together, we can emerge from this period even stronger than before.

Thanks for all you’ve done to care for each other and the community we love.

— Brynne

POLLING ALERT: Brynne Kennedy leads over Tom McClintock

Brynne Kennedy for Congress

This is big: We just got the results from a survey of more than 2,000 voters in CA-04. Weighted to reflect the likely November electorate, here’s what we learned:

It’s six months out, but it’s already a close race, AND survey results show that when voters see a balanced contrast between Brynne Kennedy and Tom McClintock, Brynne already leads by two percent.

the bottom line is that if we have the resources to introduce Brynne as the best choice in this election, she wins.

Voters know Tom McClintock. They know he’s an extreme partisan who will always put his party and special interest donors first.

What they don’t all know — at least not yet — is that the alternative in this election is an accomplished businesswoman and reformer who will work across the aisle to reignite our economy, stand up to special interest corruption, demand government work smarter, and protect Social Security and Medicare.

That’s where you come in.

Can you chip in $5 or more today to help Brynne Kennedy define the choice in this race? If we can get Brynne’s name and values out there, she will win.

Over his long career in politics, Tom McClintock has shown nothing but antipathy for the hard-working taxpayers he represents. That’s why he refuses to live here and why he won’t hold town halls.

It’s why he voted against COVID-19 relief for our community and said we were out to “game the system” — even though he’s been living well at taxpayer expense for nearly four decades.

It’s why he did nothing to prevent PG&E blackouts after decades of accepting cash from their corporate PAC.

And it’s why he advocates eliminating protections for pre-existing conditions, Medicare, and Social Security in a district full of medically vulnerable seniors.

Elections are ultimately about choices. Let’s let CA-04 know which is best.

Thanks for standing with us at this critical time.

DONATE

The number one priority during this time is to make sure everyone helps mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in California and across the country. Our campaign is doing our part by canceling all in-person events, moving to a digital operation, and supporting local efforts to help those in need. Emails like this are a critical part of our ability to run a strong campaign that can win.

Dear Friend,

I’m in the district this week listening to constituents and community leaders’ concerns and informing them about the work I’m doing to represent them in Washington as this crisis continues. Here are some highlights:

Our goal to reopen the economy: moving to stage 2.5

After over two months of Sheltering-in-Place, Americans want to get back to work. However, we need to do it safely and sensibly to minimize the likelihood of a resurgence.

We must follow the criteria state and local health experts have laid out. The good news is the state of California has approved Fresno, Madera and Merced counties to move further into the reopening process, to stage 2.5. This will allow for modified dine-in at restaurants and more retail to open.Clearly, we need to make more progress.

UPDATE: Valadao backs racist House candidate

“

Seen this guy in the news lately?

Ted Howze *was* the Congressional Republicans’ endorsed candidate in the race against Rep. Josh Harder in CA-10. But Ted’s endorsement was revoked after it was revealed he’s an unhinged radical and complete racist.

In a series of uncovered social media posts, Ted mocked Parkland survivors, claimed no Muslim could be a good American — he even called Dreamers pedophiles. And that’s not even half of it…

Nearly every member of Republican Party has jumped ship on Ted. That is, of course, except this guy:

As a matter of fact, David Valadao’s leadership PAC generously contributed $2,500 to Howze as recently as late March. As dozens of Republicans rescind their endorsements, Ted knows he can still count on Valadao’s support for now.

It’s the same story with Valadao. Rather than show leadership, he quietly enables bigotry — just like he has with Donald Trump and the rest.

Thank you,

Team TJ

Valadao still SILENT on health care attacks.

“

— Washington Post

Did you catch this headline, Michael?

While the nation grapples with a global health pandemic, Trump is rushing to reopen the economy and is promoting an untested COVID-19 antidote. Now, he has the audacity to proclaim the GOP the “Party of Health Care.”

Never mind the fact that his White House is actively trying to end the Affordable Care Act in the Supreme Court. Or that Trump still REFUSES to reopen the ACA exchanges during the pandemic.

Let’s be very clear, Republicans are the party of health care destruction.

Our opponent David Valadao has been silent on Trump’s recent attacks on health care, but we haven’t forgotten about his vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act. We remember because it would have stripped coverage from more than 60,000 people here in the Central Valley.

We need to remind our community why we rejected David Valadao in the first place. But that’s going to take resources, and we know he’s already raising funds to spin the story and go on the attack early:

Can you chip in $10 to support our campaign? Unlike Valadao, TJ’s not taking any corporate PAC money. That’s because we refuse to take marching orders from special interests — especially when it comes to our health.

Thank you so much for your support.
