2019 State Convention Volunteers Needed
“Dear Democrats,
The 2019 California Convention will be here before you know it, and we’re looking for some top-notch volunteers to help ensure that this year’s event is a smash success. There’s a lot of important work to be done. And with your assistance, we’ll elect a new party chair, elect new officers, adopt new resolutions and map out how we can continue to lead the national resistance, define the progressive agenda for America, and make sure California’s Blue Wave keeps rolling.
Can you share your time and help us lay the groundwork for a victorious 2020? The convention will be held in San Francisco, May 31- June 2. Sign up now to secure your spot as a volunteer.
We’ll need more than 500 people like you to help with tasks ranging from assisting with events and receptions to registration and credentialing. Positions are available for a range of abilities and interests, and your volunteer credential will allow you access to all open events after you’ve served at least one shift.
Volunteer registration is filled on a first come, first served basis and all communication will be handled via email, so be sure to sign up now with a permanent email account and check it frequently – including your junk mail folder.
Click here and sign up to volunteer at the 2019 California Democrats State Convention.
If you have any questions, please contact Estevan Rojas at Volunteer2019@Cadem.org.
Thank you, and see you in San Francisco!
P.S. A mandatory training will be provided for all volunteers. You’ll get more details on that after you sign up. Also, hotel or parking accommodations at Convention are the responsibility of the volunteer.”
Sincerely,

Cohen’s testimony
|
Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer and “fixer” Michael Cohen is currently testifying under oath about Trump’s criminal conduct, his business interests in Russia, and his direction to buy the silence of Stormy Daniels in 2016 and then lie about it. This has become the new normal — a member of the president’s inner circle testifying before Congress about crimes committed by his boss before and during his time as the president of the United States. Despite all of the nefariousness circulating the Trump administration and his 2016 campaign, Donald Trump could very well win another four years in the Oval Office. His re-election campaign has already raised nearly $130 million — and they’re putting that money to work. The Trump campaign and the RNC have spent at least $6.2 million on over 91,000 digital ads, and I can’t even begin to imagine the organizing infrastructure they’re putting into place. We’re doing everything possible to catch up — making landmark data agreements with state parties to provide real-time data to the entire progressive ecosystem and launching Organizing Corps 2020 so that our Democratic nominee will have the strongest field team possible to take on Donald Trump. But those programs won’t work unless the Democratic Party can financially support them — and, quite frankly, we just aren’t there yet. So I have to ask: Donald Trump and his allies are going to be hard to beat in 2020, but I know we can do it if we come together now and make early investments in the tech and organizing infrastructure it will take to lift our Democratic nominee to victory. Thanks for standing with Democrats today and every day. Tom Tom Perez |

Take a minute to read about the future of the Democratic Party
d in its overhaul of Democratic data and tecnology.
|
I want to share an important and historic update about the future of Democratic Party data with you: As DNC Chair, one of my top priorities has been to overhaul the party’s tech and data infrastructure and make sure we put the 2020 nominee and all of our candidates in the best possible position to take on the GOP and win. We’ve invested heavily in cybersecurity, brought in top tech talent, and we’re rebuilding our data infrastructure to give our presidential candidates completely revamped and state-of-the-art tools. Last week, we took a major step forward in this mission when the DNC and state parties reached a landmark agreement to improve access to voter data. This agreement will unify our efforts across the Democratic and progressive ecosystem and put our candidates in the best position possible to win. This will give all Democrats, those running for their local school board to our eventual nominee for president, a leg up on the campaign trail. It’s a recommitment to the DNC’s core mission of organizing in every ZIP code, every year, and for every level of elected office, and it will have a major impact on the success of Democratic candidates in the months and years ahead. This will allow all of us to run smarter, more efficient, and more effective campaigns. The DNC has been playing catch up when it comes to our data and tech infrastructure — that changes now. This past election cycle, we came together to rebuild our party from the ground up, investing in grassroots organizing, data, technology, and critical party infrastructure that ultimately enabled Democrats to win historic victories across the country last November. Last week’s data agreement is a continuation of that progress and a major step forward in our mission to elect Democrats at every level of government and in every corner of the country. If we come together to invest in strong tech assets, I know that we’ll be able to win seats nationwide this year and the White House in 2020. But our success in achieving this goal depends on you, Jeff, so your support has never been more critical. Thanks for being a critical member of our party, Tom Tom Perez P.S. This agreement marks a huge leap forward for our party and it’s the single best thing we could do to help our eventual Democratic nominee defeat Donald Trump in 2020. |

We have a big announcement…
|
Let’s face it: While our Democratic presidential candidates are making their case to voters, Donald Trump and the RNC are building a massive re-election effort. Unless the national Democratic Party spends the next year taking major steps to build an organization that can help elect the next Democratic president, whoever wins our primary will start out against Trump at an enormous disadvantage — one they may never be able to overcome. Today, I’m excited to announce that we’re launching a major new program to address that problem and help elect the next Democratic president: Organizing Corps 2020. Organizing Corps 2020 is an unprecedented, multi-million dollar investment by the Democratic Party and its partners that will recruit, pay, and train young people to work on the 2020 presidential cycle, starting this year. With a particular focus on mentoring students from communities of color who have often been underrepresented among campaign staff, the program will ensure the eventual Democratic nominee has the support of 1,000 homegrown field organizers ready to hit the ground in some key battleground states and help win the White House in November 2020. To be honest with you, we’re taking a bit of a risk by funding Organizing Corps 2020 — it’s a huge investment, and we’re making it early in the cycle — well before we usually see our fundraising spike. I really believe that this program could be the difference between the Democratic presidential nominee winning or losing a key battleground state in 2020 — and that could be the whole ballgame. But the only way it’ll work is if grassroots supporters like you step up this year to help build our eventual nominee’s field team. This simply won’t work if we wait until 2020. So I’m asking:
It is absolutely imperative to have organizers on the ground listening to and learning from their communities year-round — not just in the days or months leading up to the election. And it’s absolutely imperative that we build the next generation of Democratic organizers for both our nominee and our party’s future. Organizing Corps 2020 will build a powerful pipeline of young talent that will help us win elections for years to come. That work is so important, and I am counting on grassroots supporters like you to be a part of it. It’s going to take all of us coming together now to support programs like Organizing Corps 2020 so our eventual nominee has a field team that can match Donald Trump’s. Thanks for being a part of the team! Tom Tom Perez P.S. Do you know a college junior who might be interested in applying to be a member of Organizing Corps 2020? Tell them to check out the website and encourage them to apply. |
