Here we go.

House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy just confirmed in an interview with Politico that TJ Cox will be among his top targets in the 2020 election cycle.

It’s no secret why: For years, CA-21 had been a Republican stronghold under David Valadao. And for years, McCarthy and his special interest friends knew they could count on a reliable rubber stamp to repeal Obamacare, gut Medicare and Social Security, and give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy.

We changed that in 2018, and McCarthy is NOT happy about it.

Now David Valadao is back, and he’s quietly building a massive war chest against us. He out-raised us last quarter with help from McCarthy and his corporate PAC allies. So if we’re going to win again, we need to make sure we have the resources to fight back:

We set a goal of raising $20,000 in online contributions before our final FEC deadline hits this month. With McCarthy targeting us, hitting this goal is more important than ever. Can you donate today to help us get there? Any amount helps, but $10 from you would go a long way.

We’re up against a LOT of money

We’re getting nervous about the fundraising numbers our opponent is posting. But it gets worse: a HUGE portion of Jerry Dyer’s fundraising is coming in LARGE sums. We already know the same donors who support Donald Trump are bankrolling our opponent’s campaign — but now we know how large those donations are. – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

We’re getting nervous about the fundraising numbers our opponent is posting:

Fundraising so far: Republican Jerry Dyer: $290,000; Democrat Andrew Janz: $70,000

But it gets worse: a HUGE portion of Jerry Dyer’s fundraising is coming in LARGE sums.

We already know the same donors who support Donald Trump are bankrolling our opponent’s campaign — but now we know how large those donations are.

It’s hard to compete with huge sums of dark money when you’re running a grassroots campaign — we need to be sure we have the resources to take Dyer on.

The end of the year is coming up fast, and soon our newest round of fundraising numbers will become public. Can we count on you to help us raise $5,000 before the weekend is out so we can get back on track to take on Dyer?

Huge win in the fight to reduce prescription drug prices.

“"

Big news.

Yesterday, the House passed HR 3, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act — a landmark bill that gives Medicare the ability to negotiate prices with pharmaceutical companies in order to reduce the cost of prescription drugs.

Families in the Central Valley have been disproportionately impacted by the skyrocketing costs of prescription medications. Take Diabetes patients for example: 14,000 seniors on Medicare depend on insulin to treat this disease, yet saw a 1000% increase in its cost over the last 20 years. It’s a public health crisis, it’s shameful, and it’s time for Big Pharma to stop gouging the American people. Too many lives are at stake.

If this bill becomes law, the American people would see $345 billion in savings. It’d be a huge weight off the shoulders of working families in my community. But we still have work to do to pressure McConnell to take up this legislation.

I’m fighting to make sure prescription drugs are affordable for every family that needs them, but I can’t do this alone. Will you chip in $10 to help me keep up the fight to ensure all Americans have access to life-saving drugs?

Thanks for your support,

TJ Cox

I must address this

While I’ve been focused on the issues, my opponent has used me as a scapegoat to deflect from serious accusations made against him. The Fresno Bee: Jerry Dyer: Questions about alleged ’80s relationship with underage girl are ‘political smear.’ Rather than address the allegations against him, Dyer instead issued the following statement: – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Rather than address the allegations against him, Dyer instead issued the following statement:

“This…is nothing short of a political smear…My political opponents and long-time haters…attempt to tarnish my long record of successful results by slinging political mud at me and my family.”

I’ve spent my career seeking justice for victims of crimes — I refuse to re-victimize alleged victims for political gain.

I am not responsible for journalists asking him about this allegation. I’m running my campaign with integrity and working on solutions to the issues that the people of our community face every day.

I’m proud to run a campaign that everyday Fresnans can identify with — a movement of grassroots supporters investing in a better future for all of us.

I won’t lose focus on what we’re all working toward, no matter how many times my opponent tries to push me off our path.

California School Employees Association Endorses Jim Costa for Congress

Jim Costa’s campaign for Congress continues to gain momentum, with the California School Employees Association coming out in strong support of Costa’s re-election.

CSEA President Ben Valdepeña said: “Jim Costa is an advocate for classified school employees and shares CSEA’s commitment to student success. With public education funding under attack, we welcome Jim Costa’s courage and vision in Congress to champion the needs of students, families and those who work hard to ensure everyone has access to quality education.”

CSEA represents more than 250,000 classified employees in the K-12, community college and county office of education systems in California who perform a wide range of essential work including academic, paraeducator, library, school maintenance, and transportation services.

“CSEA’s early and strong support means a great deal to me,” said Congressman Costa. “In Congress, I will continue to be an unwavering voice for students and their families, and will stand up for our immigrant communities against the horrendous agenda being pushed by the Trump administration, and look forward to partnering with CSEA to stand up for those who work hard to ensure our students are prepared for the 21st century economy.”
