I am so proud to have California Democrats’ endorsement to be your next Insurance Commissioner.
If I didn’t tell you personally this weekend in San Diego, your support means the world to me.
This is BIG. But our work is just starting. In the months ahead I will be working hard to win California’s votes — and I want you with me, knocking on doors and talking to voters.
We just concluded our California Democratic Party Convention in San Diego this weekend. There was lots of enthusiasm and determination in the air.
I’m deeply honored to have received the support of so many California Democratic Party delegates in my race for Attorney General. I owe my campaign staff and team of awesome volunteers a big shoutout for their effort.
While no candidate received the necessary votes to secure the Party endorsement in this race, my team and I will continue to build toward victory in the upcoming Primary and General elections. Working with vigor and determination, we will make 2018 an historic year for Democrats.
The results at our convention provide us with great momentum for a victory in June and November. Thanks for all you are doing to make California a Big Blue Beacon of Hope!
I am honored to be the top vote getter in the hotly contested statewide races at the California Democratic Party Convention. Not only did the California Democratic Party grassroots deny the appointed Attorney General the Democratic Party endorsement, but the grassroots did so by a wide margin.
I am very honored to have received the support of 56% of the voting delegates. My opponent received only 42% of the vote. A tremendous 14 point lead.
Thanks to all the delegates who voted for me and who campaigned for me. Thanks for taking the time to speak with me or our volunteers during the months preceding the convention. I am also very grateful to our tremendous volunteers who have worked so hard with such enthusiasm here in San Diego and throughout the campaign. They showed the power of grassroots campaigning; their and your energy and engagement represents our Democratic Party at its best.
The support of such a large majority of Democrats across the state is confirmation that California Democrats want an Attorney General who will fight Trump’s regressive and racist policies while at the same time advancing a progressive agenda here in California.
I am very excited about the weeks and months ahead, as we build on this success to victory in the primary and general elections. We could not have accomplished this without you.
Thank you!

HERNANDEZ NABS MORE KEY SUPPORT IN LG CONTEST
Backing from State Assembly Member Adrin Nazarian, College Democrats at College of the Redwoods, Hubert Humphrey Democratic Club Underscores Senator Ed Hernandez’s Continued Momentum
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA — On the heels of rolling out endorsements earlier this week from the United Food and Commercial Workers Western States Council, United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals, U.S. Congress Member Alan Lowenthal and the Los Angeles County Police Chief’s Association, today State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez earned a trio of key endorsements, including from:
State Assembly Member Adrin Nazarian
College Democrats at College of the Redwoods
Hubert Humphrey Democratic Club
Expressing his gratitude for the endorsements, State Senator Hernandez released the following statement:
“I’m deeply honored to have this support from State Assembly Member Adrin Nazarian as well as College Democrats at College of the Redwoods and the members of the Hubert Humphrey Democratic Club. Their support further validates our efforts of fighting for working families, neighborhood leaders, activists, progressives, immigrants and countless more Californians. I look forward to collaborating closely with them on my campaign as we gear up for the June primary election.”
Recently, State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez rolled out a new digital video ad, titled “Proven Progressive,” in his campaign for California Lieutenant Governor. The ad highlights some of the Senator’s high-powered endorsements, including from the California Nurses Association and the California Teachers Association, along with his 100% legislative voting scorecard from organizations like the California Labor Federation* and Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California Advocates*.
To view Senator Hernandez’ video ad, “Proven Progressive,” click here.
Significantly, recently California Governor Jerry Brown signed Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez’ groundbreaking drug transparency bill, SB-17, into law. Senator Hernandez’ latest digital video ad, titled, “Life or Death,” features a moving testimonial from Kendall Renee, who is allergic to more than 95% of foods and carries at least four EpiPens with her at all times. Renee highlights Senator Hernandez’ efforts to combat skyrocketing drug costs in the ad.
A husband, father, grandfather, practicing optometrist, and local businessman, “Dr. Ed” (as he is known to his patients) has spent his life bringing quality eye care to predominantly low-income communities. As a health care provider, the need to improve access to health care for all Californians is what first drove him to run for office.
Since being elected to the Assembly in 2006 and the Senate in 2010, Dr. Ed Hernandez has been a leader on the implementation of federal health care reform – helping expand access to affordable health care, control costs, and improve the network of providers so people can actually get quality care when they need it. Dr. Ed has been a champion by expanding educational opportunity to qualified students overlooked by our public schools and universities, as well as a major proponent for government reform, including fixing a broken initiative system too often hijacked by billionaires and wealthy corporations. Dr. Ed Hernandez is running to take this experience, leadership, and vision to the next level by serving the people of California as their Lieutenant Governor.
