Dear Fresno for Parks Supporters,

We’ve had a busy couple of weeks collecting signatures, and we wanted to give you an update on the campaign. We also know there might be some curiosity surrounding our initiative, so here’s answers to some questions we’ve been hearing from our supporters.

Q&A

Q: Can I still sign the petition? When is the deadline?

A: Absolutely! We have canvassers stationed around the city, and we regularly post on our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) on where to sign. You can also click here for a list of permanent petition locations. In short, the deadline is ASAP! If you have any signatures lying around your home, car, or office, PLEASE TURN THEM IN THIS WEEK. With your help, we will meet our goal soon.

Q: Is it too late to help collect signatures?

A: It is not too late to help! In fact, we are hiring more canvassers this week and are now paying $6+ per valid signature. If you are interested in signing the petition or helping us collect signatures on a volunteer or paid basis, please click here or call (559) 256-8722 to learn more. We offer canvasser orientations at Fresno Building Healthy Communities (4991 E McKinley Ave Suite 107, Fresno, CA 93727) on Mondays through Saturdays at 8:30am or 5:30pm.

Q: How many signatures do you need?

A: In order to place our proposed measure on the ballot, we need signatures from 10% of all registered voters in the City of Fresno (roughly ~24,000). We are nearing this goal, and there is a lot of excitement and public support surrounding our initiative.

Q: I heard about Mayor Brand’s Proposed Police/Parks Tax. Is it connected to the Fresno for Parks initiative? How will it affect Fresno for Parks?

A: The Mayor’s recent Police/Parks tax proposal and our initiative are unrelated. We are continuing to collect signatures for our proposed initiative (“Fresno Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Initiative”), but are also encouraged to see the Mayor moving in the direction of supporting our city’s parks. Both the Mayor and our group of citizens are pursuing what we think is the best approach for our community, and our goal is to place one measure on the ballot that voters will want to support, benefiting all Fresnans.

Thank you for your support.

Every signature gets us one step closer
to funding safe, clean parks for all Fresnans.
