The Mueller Report is out.

And while Congress will continue to investigate obstruction of justice, we do know that the President has obstructed repeated and bipartisan efforts to improve election security.

The Mueller investigation has revealed tangible evidence of Russian efforts to interfere in our elections. For elections officials across the country, the investigation and indictments have heightened the need for additional resources to defend against cyber attacks.

Inexplicably, however, Trump continues his efforts to discredit the Mueller report and the widely accepted findings of our nation’s intelligence agencies. The White House and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have killed repeated efforts to meaningfully improve and defend our elections infrastructure.

The American people should condemn their inaction and obstruction in the face of real threats to our democracy.

Early on in the Special Counsel’s report, Mueller writes, “the Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election in sweeping and systematic fashion.”

Failure to act on this dire warning is dangerous and a dereliction of duty by government leaders. Inaction would also serve to invite further attempts at interfering in our elections by agents of the Russian government and others.

Thank you,
