WORKING FAMILIES CONTINUE UNITING AROUND ED HERNANDEZ FOR LT. GOV
International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU) Locals 13, 63 and 94 Endorse State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez’ Bid for California Lieutenant Governor
WEST COVINA, CA — Continuing his grow his coalition of support from organizations that represent working people, today State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez won endorsements from the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Locals 13, 63 and 94 in his campaign for California Lieutenant Governor.
In announcing their endorsement, ILWU Local 13 President Mark Mendoza released the following statement:
“We’re proud to announce our strong support of Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez’ campaign for California Lieutenant Governor. Throughout his career in public service, Dr. Ed has stood with working people, fighting for an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top. He’s fought to make healthcare more affordable and accessible, stood with labor to push for more job-training programs, infrastructure investments and workers’ rights laws. Senator Ed Hernandez is the only candidate with a proven record of standing up for working families, and we’re thrilled to endorse him. As Lieutenant Governor, we know he will be a key ally with us to ensure that America’s Port maintains its competitiveness and that good paying middle class jobs at the Port are secure and protected.”
Just days ago Senator Hernandez was endorsed by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California State Council and the California Teachers Association (CTA). Beyond today’s news, Senator Hernandez has raked-in endorsements from over 50 labor unions.
Significantly, just weeks ago, California Governor Jerry Brown signed Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez’ groundbreaking drug transparency bill, SB-17, into law. Senator Hernandez’ latest digital video ad, titled, “Life or Death,” features a moving testimonial from Kendall Renee, who is allergic to more than 95% of foods and carries at least four EpiPens with her at all times. Renee highlights Senator Hernandez’ efforts to combat skyrocketing drug costs in the ad.

Unshaken by big moneyed special interests, Hernandez not only has taken on Big Pharma but also fought Big Tobacco, as the architect of California’s landmark law to raise the state’s smoking age to 21.
