Endorsement from Labor Powerhouse, California School Employees Association, Underscores State Senator’s Unrivaled Support Among Working People
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA — Serving as fresh evidence of the unparalleled support he’s received among organizations that represent working people, today State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez’ campaign for California Lieutenant Governor secured a hugely influential endorsement from the California School Employees’ Association (CSEA).
In announcing their backing of Senator Hernandez for Lt. Governor, CSEA President Ben Valdepena released the following statement:
“The California School Employees Association is pleased to endorse Senator Ed Hernandez for California Lieutenant Governor. He’s been a fierce ally and partner with our members and the broader labor movement, fighting for a working families agenda up and down the state. In addition to today’s announcement, Senator Hernandez has earned over 500 endorsements from organizations that represent working families like the California Nurses Association, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California, the California Teachers Association, and State Building and Construction Trades Council of California, as well as public safety groups like the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), along with an expansive list of grassroots activists, elected officials and community leaders across California.
Recently, State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez rolled out a new digital video ad, titled “Proven Progressive,” in his campaign for California Lieutenant Governor. The ad highlights some of the Senator’s high-powered endorsements, including from the California Nurses Association and the California Teachers Association, along with his 100% legislative voting scorecard from organizations like the California Labor Federation* and Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California Advocates*.

Significantly, recently California Governor Jerry Brown signed Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez’ groundbreaking drug transparency bill, SB-17, into law. Senator Hernandez’ latest digital video ad, titled, “Life or Death,” features a moving testimonial from Kendall Renee, who is allergic to more than 95% of foods and carries at least four EpiPens with her at all times. Renee highlights Senator Hernandez’ efforts to combat skyrocketing drug costs in the ad.
