I knew that running for congress would be a big challenge – like David taking on Goliath – but the future of the Valley and its families is too important a fight to sit on the sidelines. And already, voters and news organizations are taking note.
Taking on an entrenched incumbent is no easy task. But I know we’re up to the challenge – and so do major papers. The Fresno Bee said our campaign may be his “toughest opponent to date” and a San Francisco Chronicle headline acknowledged that with my entrance into the race, the 14-year incumbent “faces a tough race.” We’re already making headlines because newspapers are seeing what we know in this district – the same old playbook no longer works for our working families.
I have been humbled by the overwhelming support, as I stand up and step up for my family and community. Our families need and deserve a Congress that works for us, not corporations. I am committed to this fight and committed to a brighter future for the Valley, but I can’t do this without you.
