After a busy week in Washington, I was back in the district talking to people about the work I’m doing and listening to their concerns. Here are some highlights from the week of May 27th:

Securing Valley water
Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources, Rep. Raul Grijalva, came to the district for a firsthand look at the Central Valley water issues. Congressman TJ Cox and I showed him around various locations like Del Bosque farms to emphasize the rising need for safe, clean water for Valley communities and farmers. I will continue working with the Chairman and Rep. Cox to secure a reliable water supply for farmers, ranchers, and dairymen and women who put food on America’s dinner table every night.
Keeping children safe
At Chukchansi Park, I participated in Valley Children’s HospitalMay Day Summer Safety Fair, which hosted first responders, law enforcement, and Valley Children’s staff. I got to learn about all the great work Valley Children’s is doing to keep the children of our community safe during the summer months.
Improving equal protections for women
I sat down with local female leaders to hear how we can better address their concerns and advance women’s rights. I also filled them in on the work I’ve been doing in Congress, including cosponsoringH.R.7- thePaycheck Fairness Act,H.R.1585 – Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019, and working with my fellow co-chairs and members of the Victims’ Rights Caucus to ensure women enjoy the same protections as men.
