The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.
Last night on MSNBC, Elizabeth told Chris Hayes that she was about to call people who’d just donated to our campaign – no matter what amount – to say thanks and hear what issues they care about.
Here’s what happened next:
Elizabeth: “I just wanted to give you a call and say thank you for contributing to my campaign.”
Beth: “Oh my god you actually called!”
Elizabeth: “Yeah!”
Beth: “Thank you. I’m gonna cry.”
Beth told Elizabeth about growing up in a union family, going out with her son to help people experiencing homelessness, how she uses a wheelchair and teaches full-time – and that she’s ready to go knock doors for Elizabeth in her hometown in Kentucky.
Elizabeth talked with Jeannie, a nurse who’d just donated after watching her on MSNBC, about protecting the environment and ending corruption. Jeannie told Elizabeth, “I feel like I can’t get the breaks that a billionaire gets.”
Elizabeth talked with John about her plan to give workers more power in our economy, and with Annette about Medicare for All and taking on the big banks, and with Sophie about fighting for her high school students to have a bright future.
These aren’t the conversations Elizabeth would have been having if she’d done what presidential candidates usually do and only called the wealthiest donors who’d written the biggest checks.
Our campaign is different. Everyone owns a piece of it, and everyone gets equal access. But that means we can’t build it without you. Chip in $3, or whatever you can, and let’s build a grassroots movement that puts the people like Beth, Jeannie, John, Annette, and Sophie first – not the wealthy and well-connected.
