Friend,
Before I ask you to make a critical donation before our first FEC fundraising deadline, I want to tell you a story about my last trip to Iowa and what it means to invest in this effort right from the start by becoming a founding donor of this grassroots campaign. ( You can give now if you don’t want to read it!)
A woman wanted to know how a guy from Newark could understand the needs of a family like hers, hundreds of miles away. It’s an understandable question — especially when the current occupant of the White House does his best to tear us apart. Every day, they try to tell us how we’re different — to be skeptical or even afraid of people who don’t look like us.
But I’m going to let you in on something: What I see when I travel the country doesn’t match Donald Trump’s worldview at all. As Americans, what we care about, what keeps us up at night, the kind of country and planet we want to leave behind for our kids — we have so much more in common than the other side wants you to believe.
And the truth is, they know that — but they also know that the only way Trump can win is through fear and division.
That’s why this campaign has got to be about lifting people up, bringing people together to realize our common purpose and tackle our toughest challenges. It’s why, even in some of our most difficult times as a nation, I’m relentlessly optimistic about what we can get done together.
The together part is the most important. I need people like you to take a chance on me and this campaign — especially in a moment like this, when we’re facing our first big fundraising test.
I’m so proud of what we’re building — thank you,
Cory
