The University Professional and Technical Employees, Communication Workers of America, Local 9119 Endorse Dave Jones for Attorney General
Today, the University Professional and Technical Employees, Communication Workers of America, Local 9119 (UPTE-CWA Local 9119) — who represents 15,000 technical and professional employees at the University of California throughout ten UC campuses, five UC medical centers, three national laboratories, and three California Community Colleges — officially endorsed Dave Jones for Attorney General.
“The 15,000 technical and professional employees at the University of California are proud to endorse Dave Jones for Attorney General,” said UPTE-CWA Local 9119 Vice President Joaquin Chavez. “Dave Jones understands the importance of protecting the rights of employees at higher education institutions. Dave Jones is a proven champion for public employees and education.”

UPTE-CWA Local 9119 joins a host of influential organizations endorsing Dave Jones after he won with 56% of the vote at the California Democratic Party Convention. Jones was endorsed by the widely respected San Jose Mercury News and East Bay Times last week. Jones was also endorsed by UNITE HERE! last month, which represents over 300,000 workers nationwide in the hotel, gaming, food service, manufacturing, textile, distribution, laundry, transportation, and airport industries.
UPTE-CWA Local 9119 is also joined by a host of Democratic grassroots organizations that all endorsed Dave Jones for Attorney General last week, including the Stonewall Democratic Club of Greater Sacramento, San Diego Progressive Democrats, Silicon Valley Asian Pacific American Democratic Club, Culver City Democratic Club, Porterville Democratic Club, and the Feather River Democratic Club.
