From supporting a new high school in our district, to passing an effective budget- Trustee Nelson Esparza is delivering for students this year.

Carrying the Ball
Nelson has carried a number of successful resolutions on the Board this year, including a Safe Schools Resolution that reinforces policies protecting students & families from harmful federal immigration initiatives.

CTEC High School
Nelson has been hard at work supporting a brand new Career Technical Education High School that will be opening up in the heart of his district (Central Fresno) next August 2018. Big things happening for our students!

 CTE Summit
Hosting CTE Summit (Watch Video)
Trustee Esparza was proud to host a summit on the state of Career Technical Education in Fresno County, in partnership with Fresno Unified & Fresno City College. Take a look at the short video for a very quick preview!

Dual Immersion
As Chairman of the Board Projects Committee, Nelson is spearheading the effort to proliferate Dual Immersion Bilingual Education Programs in Fresno County. This effort will include a hands-on summit in November where each school district in the County will be provided the support needed to create & amplify programs.

Special Education
Trustee Esparza supported the formation of a new Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) in order to improve the delivery of service to some of our neediest students in Fresno County. After voting to petition the State for approval, its formation is underway.

Community Partnerships
Nelson is spearheading community partnerships that provide additional services & resources to our students outside of the classroom. These include programs that provide summer meals to students while school is out of session, as well as ensuring that thousands of books are reaching our students directly in their neighborhoods.

Inspiring Our Students
Trustee Esparza takes any opportunity to get in front of our students in the district. Whether it’s through site visits, as a guest speaker, or presenting at workshops.

While these are just a few of our successes thus far, Trustee Esparza looks forward to continuing to put our students first throughout his tenure on the Board of Education.
