Dear Friend,

Tom McClintock decided to speak up this week about the horrific murder of George Floyd. He gave Mr. Floyd’s memory a couple of sentences in his press release, acknowledging — as everyone must — that the officer’s actions were a sadistic abuse of power. And then he started to propagandize. Because that is what Tom McClintock does.

McClintock’s press release didn’t mention the many reports across the country of white nationalists using the protests as cover for their evil, like the Boogaloo members who were charged in Las Vegas, the white nationalist group posing as Antifa that called for violence on Twitter, the white nationalists who hijacked the protest in Philadelphia, or the Minnesota looting charges against white nationalists, to name just a few. Instead, in a news release devoid of any support, he pointed to what he called the “radical left” for the unrest and the tragic murders in St. Louis and Oakland. He wants us to blame the mayors of those cities, instead of the criminals who committed those crimes, or the extremists — most of them from the far right, so far as we can tell — who descended on cities to turn peaceful protests into riots. Tom McClintock wants us to believe that the left is trying to divide us. That’s laughable. But because Tom McClintock is a U.S. Congressman with a big voice, it’s also enormously damaging.

So far as we can tell, Tom McClintock never calls out the enormous harm of white nationalism, which is by far the largest terrorist threat in the Nation today. As this article reports, “[f]rom 2009 through 2018, the far right has been responsible for 73% of domestic extremist-related fatalities, according to a 2019 study by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). And the toll is growing. More people–49–were murdered by far-right extremists in the U.S. last year [2018] than in any other year since the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.” He ignores these crimes and the enormous damage being done by racists across the country. Instead, like the President he serves, McClintock lies and scapegoats. Although the FBI found “no evidence” that Antifa was behind the destruction and violence — and without citing a shred of evidence to support his claims — McClintock blamed Democrats.

Tom McClintock wants to divide us. We can’t let him.

California’s 4th District deserves better. We deserve a representative who sees our challenges with clear eyes and takes meaningful action to fix them. We deserve a representative who truly cares about what happens in this District. We deserve a representative who will fight for us.

Join us, as we fight to send Tom McClintock back to his own District, and to finally stop him from selling us out, one vote at a time.  To learn more about the alternative, visit https://brynneforcongress.com/.

Because we know, as Margaret Mead said, that “a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
