Today, alongside my family and campaign team, I marched in solidarity with children and families across the nation who say #EnoughisEnough and #NeverAgain.
In 2018, there have been over two dozen school shootings in the United States. Two dozen shootings in fewer than three months. Thousands of children are shattered from the trauma and the apathy surrounding this important issue. We can no longer stay silent.
We need sensible gun control now.
Today, we marched, but tomorrow we demand real change. And I couldn’t be more proud to stand with my teenage sons, Neo and Eon, and witness an entire generation of activists standing strong and galvanizing this movement.
Wake up Washington, it’s the dawning of a new era – and our children are leading the charge.
But it’s up to all of us to ensure their voices are heard – not just in the streets, but at the decision-making table. Change happens when entire communities are mobilized, when words are put into action, and when elected leaders actually listen to the very people they are supposed to represent.
This is what the future looks like – people taking power into their own hands – and it’s time to listen and to act.
Change is coming.
