A brand new news outlet just popped up — the San Joaquin Valley Sun. The editor is Alex Tavlian, who is also doing campaign work for my opponent, Republican Jerry Dyer. Can you really cover this race and my campaign objectively if you’re actively working to elect my opponent? Valley Public Radio: Can You Cover The News Fairly While Also Working On Jerry Dyer's Campaign?

Can you really cover this race and my campaign objectively if you’re actively working to elect my opponent? I don’t think so.

Journalists agree:

The Society of Professional Journalists: Don’t do it. Don’t get involved. Don’t contribute money, don’t work in a campaign, don’t lobby, and especially, don’t run for office yourself.

And he’s already written about me — criticizing me for objecting to my family being thrown off of our health insurance by the Republican-controlled Fresno County Board of Supervisors.

He even accused me of “playing up” the fact that my pregnant wife would lose her insurance. I don’t think that fact is being played up — I think it’s pretty important that my wife keeps her insurance.

This is beyond unethical — Tavlian is clearly incapable of covering my campaign without bias. Sign our petition if you agree →
