On the debate stage just now, Pete talked about how one way or another, this presidency is going to come to an end. He asked us to picture what that’s going to be like — what it’s actually going to feel like in this country the first day the sun comes up.
Think about it. Donald Trump is out of office. It starts out feeling like a happy thought, right? This particular brand of chaos and corruption will be over.
But we’ll be even more torn apart by politics than we are right now. And that’s why this primary is so important. Is the person who replaces this president going to be someone who further divides us or someone who brings us together to meet our urgent challenges?
That’s why we need Mayor Pete to be President Buttigieg on that day. He’ll be a president who can turn the page and bring a polarized country together so we can tackle the issues that are going to be even more urgent than they are now.
