For Elizabeth, the fight to level the playing field for working families is personal. When she was growing up in Oklahoma, her family barely hung on by their fingernails. Her dad had a heart attack when she was 12, and her mom saved their home by getting a minimum wage job answering the phones at Sears. Elizabeth graduated from a public commuter college that cost $50 a semester, and it opened a million doors for her.

She went on to become a public school teacher, law professor, United States Senator, and now a presidential candidate because she grew up at a time when America invested in kids like her.

But here’s the hard truth: America isn’t building that kind of future any longer. Today, the game is rigged – rigged to work for those who have money and power. And for some, the game has always been rigged against them.

This dark path doesn’t have to be our future. We can make our democracy work for all of us. We can make our economy work for all of us. We can rebuild America’s middle class – but this time, we have to build it for everyone.

Elizabeth is grateful for America’s promise to invest in kids like her – and she always says she’s determined down to her toes to keep that promise for every kid in this country.

As a law professor studying bankruptcy, she spent decades uncovering the financial industry’s tricks and traps. She’s spent her career standing up to giant Wall Street banks and powerful interests, and working to give everyone a fighting chance at success. And she didn’t stop when she got to the United States Senate. Now, she’s keeping up the fight by running for President.

But this isn’t just her fight. It’s going to take every single one of us to save our democracy, rebuild the middle class, and end Washington corruption – and your voice matters.
