Earlier this week, our opponent David Valadao officially conceded the race, and we can finally say that we’ve flipped California’s 21st district from red to blue! I’m elated and humbled that the people of this district have put their faith in me to represent them in our nation’s capital. The pundits wrote off our campaign as a longshot, but through all the doubt, we stood strong and held true to our shared values. This movement is about making health care more affordable for everyone — especially those in the Central Valley who need it most. It’s about finally having a local voice in Congress who will fight to protect the environment and pass meaningful immigration reform. And it’s about making sure we have a representative in Congress who will put the people first — not a party agenda, not the President, and not the special interests. Not only did we hold true to our values and win — we did so while rejecting all corporate PAC donations and by relying on grassroots support from folks like you. I can’t tell you how proud I am of this team, our volunteers, and my incredible staff who worked tirelessly to make this victory a reality. I’d also like to thank my wife and kids for being so supportive throughout this hard-fought campaign. At a time when so much of our political system is defined by gridlock and division, you have proven that when people come together — even in the face of cynicism and doubt — there’s nothing we can’t accomplish. So thank you. Now, it’s time to deliver: We have so much work to do and I’m thankful to have you by my side as I start this chapter as your representative in Congress. Talk soon, TJ Cox |
