Senator Bernie Sanders’ endorsement of Secretary Hillary Clinton to be the next president of the United States closes a primary campaign that has energized Democrats. Senator Sanders’ impact is already being felt in the many supporters he has brought into the party and in the draft platform that will be ratified in Philadelphia.
California Democrats were well represented on the platform drafting committee by Rep. Barbara Lee and former Rep. Howard Berman, who helped lead the charge to the most progressive platform in our party’s history.
The platform committee endorsed positions that line up with what Americans believe about the need to reform Wall Street, expand Social Security, regulate carbon emissions, support the $15 minimum wage, expand the earned income tax credit to help working people, and end mass incarceration.
We invite supporters of both Secretary Clinton and Senator Sanders to join us and put their energy into winning the White House and taking back Congress.
