Standing up for Californians? - Fresno County Democratic Party

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

Last Friday, in the middle of the night, Senate Republicans passed a tax bill that will disproportionately raise taxes on Californians, while giving tax cuts to GOP donors¹.

This bad bill:

1) runs up the national debt by $1.5 trillion,

2) results in 13 million Americans uninsured, and

3) worsens economic inequality.

Of California’s 14 Republican Representatives, 11 voted YES and will have to answer to their constituents as they’re up for re-election next year. Sign our petition to tell Congress that we, the people of California, will hold them accountable for their actions.

The Senate has voted, but we still have a chance to stop this bill. Right now, Senate and House GOP leaders are meeting to negotiate a final bill. California’s 14 Republican Representatives will again have to make a choice: will they stand up for their constituents, many of whom will be hurt by this bill, or will they go along with their Republican colleagues to punish their constituents and give big tax cuts to GOP donors?

Trump’s spokespeople like to say that “Elections have consequences.” On this point, they’re right. Sign our petition today to tell Congress that voting to raise taxes on California families will have consequences too!

We must resist these attacks on working Californians. We must persist and put pressure on our representatives in Congress to remind them that they work for the people of California and 2018 is just around the corner.
