Kamala Harris

There is so much happening in Washington right now — and I want to make sure you know what the Trump administration is trying to do to your voting rights and privacy.

Since the 2016 election, Trump has used false voter fraud claims to justify his loss in the popular vote. To prop up his unsubstantiated allegations, he has created a “voter fraud commission” that is nothing more than a sham run by people with a long history of disenfranchising voters.

Last week, this commission demanded state governments turn over personal information — including your name, address, partial Social Security number, and even your voting history. And they want to make these records public. This is a dangerous assault on your privacy and when considering the motives of Trump and the hand-picked members of this commission, your voting rights.

So far, more than 40 states, including California, have rejected this request, but we cannot rest until every voter is protected from this and ANY shameful attempts at voter suppression.

Sign my petition thanking state leaders — like California’s Secretary of State Alex Padilla — for denying Trump’s request for personal data; and then urge all state governments to resist this blatant and shocking attempt at nationwide voter suppression.
(When you’re done, forward this email to your friends and urge them to do the same. This is important.)

Voting is your right — and it needs to be protected and strengthened at all costs. This cannot be an issue where we compromise. The heart of our democracy is under attack.

Thanks for everything you do,

Kamala Harris
U.S. Senator, California
