It was so inspiring to celebrate Women’s Equality Month at the California Democratic Party Executive Board meeting in August.
There are so many women in this photo who have been trailblazers and who continue to be leaders for women’s equality. (That’s me standing next to the cake, which I brought to the Women’s Caucus meeting at E-Board).
Our In-Home Supportive Services workers are truly unsung heroes. I had the unique and humble privilege to “Walk in the Shoes” of Min, an IHSS caregiver who cares for 90-year-old Mrs. Xu every day. Min’s only allotted to work 2 hours per day, but she often works longer and yet, doesn’t get paid overtime, is not covered for health care, doesn’t have a pension, and cannot take a sick day under our current IHSS laws.
I had a wonderful time joining the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce at the opening of the Orange County Soccer Club’s new stadium. It was a perfect evening for a soccer game!
I had the privilege of meeting Misael “Mitch” Tagle. Mitch has created a truly remarkable showroom and is bringing back much-needed light manufacturing to our state!
It was great going to the Yuba-Sutter Fair! The Fair has plenty of family friendly, affordable community events, and feature important programs like FFA and 4H, which teach our young people important life lessons. A very special THANK YOU to the Yuba-Sutter Fair Board Members who serve, volunteer, and preserve these important community events and fairgrounds.
It was truly an honor to attend the 37th Annual San Francisco Fleet Week Launch on August 21st. Thank you to General Mike Myatt for all your years of service and dedication to our country and Fleet Week, and Lewis Loeven (in the picture), ED of SF Fleet Week Association, for keeping the celebrations alive! And a big THANK YOU to all the veterans who answer the call to service by your sacrifice everyday to protect the values of our democracy and the freedom we enjoy. San Francisco Fleet Week will take place October 1st through October 9th, so mark your calendars!
