Scores Endorsement from Esteemed State Lawmaker Kansen Chu in Statewide Contest
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA — Continuing to broaden his roster of support as he seeks the office of California Lieutenant Governor, today State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez locked down a significant endorsement from State Assembly Member Kansen Chu.
Representing California’s 25th Assembly District, which spans from northern California’s south bay to the east bay, state lawmaker Kansen Chu announced his backing of Senator Hernandez’ Lt. Governor bid by releasing the following statement:
“Senator Ed Hernandez is a leader with immense integrity and California values. I’ve seen this firsthand through his efforts to create change by enacting smart public policy in the legislature on a range of issues. Ed is also passionate about building a fair economy that works for all people, where businesses, working families and all Californians can thrive. I’m pleased to give Ed Hernandez my wholehearted support in his campaign for California Lt. Governor. I know he will make all Californians proud.”
Today’s announcement follows last week’s endorsement from State Assembly Member Laura Friedman. It also comes on the heels of recent news that the California State Legislature passed Senator Dr. Hernandez’ landmark SB-17, a drug transparency bill, which aims to address the cost of life-saving prescription drugs. The bill won widespread bi-partisan support.
Senator Hernandez’ latest digital video ad, titled, “Life or Death,” features a moving testimonial from Kendall Renee, a nationally renowned activist and singer, who is allergic to more than 95% of foods and carries at least four EpiPens with her at all times.
Renee, whose story has been reported on nationally, from Good Morning America to Ability Magazine and more, used to pay $90 per EpiPen. Today the same drug costs her over $600 each.

Unshaken by big moneyed special interests, Hernandez not only has taken on Big Pharma but also fought Big Tobacco, as the architect of California’s landmark law to raise the state’s smoking age to 21.
In addition to today’s news, Senator Hernandez has raised over $2 million for the statewide effort and has locked in far-reaching support across California.
