Trump has taken lying to a whole new level.
Last week while speaking to the press, Trump said that Russian interference during the 2016 election was a “hoax” that Democrats fabricated “as an excuse for losing the election.”
Here’s the truth: the intelligence community, the military, and even members of Trump’s administration, including White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, have all acknowledged that Russian interference is not a hoax. Several of Trump’s closest allies know that foreign interference in last year’s election is not only a reality, it also a threat to our democracy.
And the indictment of Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chairman, along with George Papadopoulos’ guilty plea and admission to making false statements to FBI investigators, will only make Trump even more desperate to save himself.
Michael, it’s extremely frustrating to watch Trump repeatedly lie and put our privacy, our national security, and our democracy at risk. But we can’t afford to just be frustrated, we must resist and persist with action.
Since day one, I’ve spoken out against Trump’s lies about voter fraud and his denial of Russian interference.
When Trump established his fake voter fraud commission, I pointed out loudly and clearly that the commission’s true agenda is to suppress the vote. I also made clear that California would not comply with their invasive requests for the personal information of every registered voter. If Trump believes there’s a witch hunt happening, it’s the misguided effort of this commission.
I’ll keep fighting back, but I need your help.
