Hi there,
On Sunday, my husband Peter announced he is officially running for president of the United States.
He announced this from an old automobile manufacturing building on a freezing cold rainy day in South Bend, Indiana — his hometown and where we live with our two dogs, Buddy and Truman.
Rain poured through the factory’s old roof as thousands of members of the Pete for America community cheered Peter on.
I watched from backstage, in awe of the man I love and the community of people who are standing for a better future for all of us.
The team pulled a clip of my favorite part of the speech and paired it with some backstage footage from the announcement.
We knew this week following launch would be a big one. We had a “Meet Pete” event planned in Des Moines yesterday, and we had to move it from a school gymnasium to the field outside to accommodate the 1,600 Iowans who wanted to rally with us. We head to New Hampshire on Friday before returning to South Bend to celebrate Easter with our family and church community.
I’ll say this every time I write: Thank you. I’m so grateful to be a part of the community you are building around Pete for America, and that I get to share my husband with kind, optimistic, and courageous people like you.
