Democrats select non-profit health care executive, Bobby Bliatout, to be their official party standard-bearer to oppose Devin Nunes
The official endorsement of Bobby Bliatout by the California Democratic Party adds to his Congressional campaign’s dominant coalition of endorsements
Long Beach, CA- After a week of being excoriated by national and local pundits for his hyper-partisan, illogical, and diversion laden arguments, as President Trump’s standard-bearer, at this week’s impeachment hearings on the House Intelligence Committee, Congressman Devin Nunes has to deal with more bad news– the California Democratic Party has chosen health care expert ,Bobby Bliatout as the party’s official candidate to take on Nunes next November.
Michael D. Evans, chair of the Fresno County Democratic Party, issued the following statement:
“We congratulate Bobby Bliatout for putting together a strong coalition of local stakeholders to secure the California Democratic Party endorsement for Congressional District 22. Beating incumbent Devin Nunes is a national priority, but to Central Valley residents Nunes’ antagonism toward healthcare reform, economic development and cleaner Valley air and water make defeating him a critical local priority. As a healthcare expert, Bobby is an ideal alternative to Nunes on an issue of critical importance to all Americans.”
Bliatout responded to the endorsement by emphasizing the importance of being in touch with the issues that Valley residents face. He said, “Receiving the endorsement of the Democratic Party as the candidate to take on Devin Nunes is an honor. We won this endorsement by building a grassroots coalition who represent the rich history and diversity of the Central Valley. That’s the same type of coalition we’ll need to put together to beat Devin Nunes next November.”
To date Bliatout has dominated local endorsements, including Victor Lopez, mayor of Orange Cove; Jose Sigala, mayor of Tulare; Greg Gomez, mayor of Farmersville; Ruben Macareno, Farmersville City Council member; Miguel Arias, Fresno City Council member; Blong Xiong, former Fresno City Council member; Daren Miller, Fresno County Board of Education trustee; Brandon Vang, Sanger Unified School District Board trustee; John Leal, State Center Community College District trustee; Dr. Perla Soria, Lindsay Unified School District #4 trustee; Laura Soria Cortes, Lindsay City Council member; Ivet Soria, Lindsay Hospital board member; Eliseo Gamino, Firebaugh Unified School District trustee; Espi Sandoval, Kerman City Council member; Jose Ornelas, San Joaquin City council member; Steve Ly, mayor of Elk Grove; Allen Warren, Sacramento City Council member; and the Tulare County Stonewall Democrats.
Bobby has also been endorsed by civil rights legend, Dolores Huerta.
The 22nd Congressional District covers large portions of Fresno and Tulare counties. The primary election is March 3, 2020.
