While Democrats are moving forward on an impeachment inquiry against a president who undermines our national security and tears at the fabric of our democracy, Donald Trump is raising millions of dollars off of it.

But that’s not all, team. The Republican war chest is even larger once you account for the millions they have from conservative dark money groups that are coming together to defend him. Donald Trump is raising millions while Fox News pundits and conservative talking heads demonize Congress for upholding the constitution and proceeding with an impeachment inquiry.

Team, we deserve far better representation in Washington. If you believe that our country needs a president who answers to the people — not those who line his pockets — chip in whatever you can.

I entered politics to be a voice of the people. I moved to Newark after law school because I wanted to advocate for the people and take on the slumlords who preyed upon vulnerable families living in the shadows of our society. I am here today to help those who don’t get a seat at the table — those who are too often forgotten once the dust settles on the campaign trail.

Here’s my promise to you, friend: When I am in the White House, I’ll be a president for the people — those who are ignored, overlooked, voiceless.

From the beginning, I knew I wanted to run a campaign that didn’t rely on dark money, federal lobbyists, corporate PACs, or fossil fuel or pharma execs — and we’ve stuck by that. We rely on grassroots donations from across the country to fund our operation — because that’s the way it should be done. People-funded campaigns, built on the issues and values that unite us under common cause and voice. But it’s no secret that we are being far outspent.

So I’m asking you, friend, will you chip in $5 to help our campaign have the resources to fight back against conservative dark money?
