Friends —

On this day 96 years ago, the unconditional sacrifices of our suffrage leaders resulted in women finally gaining the right to vote. Throughout our nation’s history, women of all walks of life and backgrounds have made significant contributions to our American experience, but have not always been met the respect and dignity that they deserve.

Today, 96 years later, we are at the precipice of shattering what is perhaps the greatest and last glass ceiling of all, the election of the first female President of the United States.

The Democratic Party proudly leads the charge in protecting women’s rights and working to expand participation in our political and social spheres of life. As we celebrate Women’s Equality Day, we must re-commit ourselves to doing the hard work necessary to help elect America’s first woman president – and to inspire young girls and women to believe that true equality may one day be finally achieved.

In Democratic Unity,

Eric C. Bauman
