Since refusing to hand over the personal data of every voter in California to Trump, Judicial Watch — yet another group that perpetuates the myth of massive voter fraud to advance policies that roll back voting rights — is threatening to sue me.
Here’s what you need to know: Judicial Watch’s assertions are baseless. They are using bad math and flawed methodology. And I will not be intimidated by their threats.
This threat represents just the latest in a series of coordinated attacks on the voting rights of American citizens. We must keep resisting.
As California’s chief elections official, I take seriously our responsibility to maintain the voter registration lists as required by the National Voter Registration Act. Judicial Watch’s threat of a lawsuit doesn’t intimidate me and shouldn’t intimidate California voters.
I cannot emphasize enough: We must resist these assaults on our right to vote. I won’t back down on protecting Californians’ voting rights.
We must stand together in the face of these assaults on our voting rights. We cannot let their lies and intimidation win. I know that as long as we stand together and resist, we will win.
