NORMA ALCALA FOR VICE CHAIR OF THE CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Our Party has done well in statewide elections and in the state legislature, but we have so much further to go. The Vice Chair’s position must become one of proactive action in bringing new Democrats into the party. We must focus on the next two years and take over Republican congressional districts turning them blue starting with Jeff Denham, Darrel Issa, David Valadeo and Tom McClintock. We must teach our Central Committees and clubs to organize effective voter registration and civic engagement efforts beginning in our high schools. We must create a culture of voting. The California Democratic Party has always focused its efforts on assembly and senate races but I know our focus must also be on winning the school boards, city council, supervisors and many other boards that make the policies that effect our local communities. NORMA’S BIO:  Norma is the elected E Board Representative to the DSCC from Assembly District 7, Sacramento and Yolo county. She is an Elected Trustee of the Washington Unified School District, Vice Chair for Northern California for the Chicano Latino Caucus of the California Democratic Party, immediate Past President of the River City Democratic Club, immediate past Vice Chair of the Yolo County School Districts Association, member of the Yolo County Early Childhood Education Committee.She was a Delegate for Bernie Sanders to Democratic National Convention 2016.  She registered over 4000 high school students in 2016. You can find her each month helping Del Surrette register New Citizens at Memorial Auditorium.
