Fresno City College Parking Structure
To solve a multi-decades old problem, the Board of Trustees (BOT) approved the use of the design-build procurement process for the construction of a new parking structure in April 2019. The structure is to be located north of the former District Office between Cambridge Avenue and Weldon Avenue. It’ll unclude 864 stalls with an additional 126 surface parking stalls immediately adjacent to the new structure.

District staff and Bomel Construction Co. are working to complete design development and move into the construction document phase. Construction is anticipated to start early 2021 with completion in 2022.

Fresno City College Math and Science Building
Constructed in 1973, the existing science facility is nearing the end of its useful life cycle and will require major modernization or replacement. Through the FCC planning process it was determined that a new Science Building was required. The new building will feature modern labs across several science disciplines and will also house flexible student study areas. Locating the new Science Building along Blackstone Avenue will alleviate some of the parking demand on the main part of campus and will serve as a new front door to Fresno City College.

Construction on the new project is expected to begin in 2022 with estimated occupancy in 2023.

Fresno City College Child Development Center
The Child Development program at Fresno City College offers an associate’s degree and several certificate programs and transfer options. The job opportunities in the Fresno-Clovis area are very good and the demand for the program is high. Based upon the program requirements and demand, a new facility will be constructed to accommodate up to 24 infants, 36 toddlers, and 83 preschool children is proposed.

Construction on the new Child Development Center will begin in mid 2021 and completed late 2022.

Fresno City College First Responders Campus
The Police and Fire Academies are among the most impacted programs at FCC. Phase I of this project will include permanent facilities to house academies for police, fire and EMT in addition to master planning of the campus for future expansion. It is also intended that Phase I include a burn tower for Fire Academy training and a scenario village for the Police Academy.

Approximately 40 acres of property has been acquired at Willow and North Avenues and demolition of existing structures at the site is complete. The Board of Trustees recently hired a firm to finalize plans for DSA submittal and to construct modular buildings.

Submittal to the DSA is anticipated for October 2020 with an estimated occupancy in 2023.

FCC New West Fresno Career Technical Center

The new campus will house the Automotive Technology and Automotive Collision Programs from both FCC and CTC; in addition to constructing an academic building facility for general education classrooms and student services. This campus will provide the West Fresno community with a complete college center offering diverse educational opportunities, from career technology courses to transferable college credits.

Through donation and purchases, land was acquired in June 2018. The Board of Trustees approved a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) in February 2020 to encourage the use of local labor and SCCCD graduates. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2020.
