Aloha friend,
The first time I met Tulsi was at a community center in a small town on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi when she was first running for Congress. To be honest, I didn’t really want to be there. I’d given up on politics years ago, disillusioned as a young student by the lies and hypocrisy surrounding the Iraq War. But I went because I’d heard she was the real deal and I had enough hope and curiosity left to give up an evening.
As soon as I met her I thought, “holy smokes (except it wasn’t ‘smokes’), this woman can change the world.” She spoke carefully, soberly and with kindness. She had the quiet strength of someone who’s dedicated their life to service. She was anchored and animated by the spirit of aloha, love for her country and for all people as children of God. And she was a soldier, telling the truth about Iraq and calling for an end to the war in Afghanistan.
I was sold. I signed up to volunteer, and that quickly snowballed until I found myself jumping on board as her volunteer coordinator. Hopscotching from island to island, I soon learned that virtually everyone who met her was feeling the same way I did. So in this election, I know that all we need to do is simply introduce Tulsi to the American people, and she’ll take it the rest of the way.
Our chance to do just that is at the Democratic Party’s debate in June. When Tulsi walks up on that stage, she’s going to make an impression. It’s up to us to give her that chance. The DNC has a new threshold requirement of 65,000 unique donors from at least 200 people in at least 20 different states. We’ve got the states covered, now we’re just running up the numbers.
We need 22,525 new people to donate between now and May 15th—and we need your help.
To make this happen, we’re launching Tulsi’s Donor Challenge and asking each of you to sign up at least 10 people—ten of your friends and family members who will give as little as $1 each to get Tulsi’s message, service before self and ensuring a peace dividend for the American people by ending wasteful wars, into the debates. Those who are all in on this challenge can compete for opportunities to talk with Tulsi one-on-one, over lunch, or on a Skype call, and score some signed merch!
