Dear Friend,
Another year gone. Hundreds of lives lost or irrevocably damaged. Thousands of homes and businesses destroyed. This is Tom McClintock’s legacy.
For more than a year, Tom McClintock’s constituents have been asking — begging — for help. More than a year ago, we wrote about the lives lost due to his neglect. We joined the chorus of voices demanding action at the federal level to address the rising threat of wildfires. At the time, Republicans had complete control of the federal government. And still, nothing was done. Tom McClintock’s policies are too extreme even for his own party. In the last year, Californians have suffered from one fire after another. The Camp Fire erupted in November of last year, taking 85 lives — most of them retired in the idyllic community of Paradise — and destroying 18,804 structures. And still, nothing has been done. More than 6,400 fires have burned in California in 2019, destroying more than 250,000 acres of land. And still, nothing has been done.
Tom McClintock has shown, time and again, that he does not have what it takes to fix the enormous problems facing California’s 4th District. For more than ten years, he’s stubbornly refused to consider any solution to California’s wildfire problem except an extreme approach that can never pass. And for his ten years representing California’s 4th District, nothing has been done.
California’s 4th District deserves better. We deserve a representative who sees our challenges with clear eyes and takes meaningful action to fix them. We deserve a representative who truly cares about what happens in this District. We deserve a representative who will fight for us.
Join us, as we fight to send Tom McClintock back to his own District, and to finally stop him from selling us out, one vote at a time.
Because we know, as Margaret Mead said, that “a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
