Do you remember the day Hurricane Katrina overwhelmed the levee in New Orleans? It was on this day in 2005.
Today, we are faced with another challenge as Hurricane Harvey ravaged the Texas coast and is has now arrived in Louisiana.
Our families and friends in Texas are suffering and tens of thousands are either displaced from or have lost their homes.
Today, we must stand together. Please consider making a contribution to local organizations in Texas to help the people of Houston — every bit helps.
While hurricanes are natural disasters, we cannot ignore how climate change has exacerbated the severity of the storm. Storms like Hurricane Harvey is what happens when we dismiss climate change.
Harvey is being called the worst storm in U.S. history. We must come together as a country and do everything we can to help the people of Texas and Louisiana.
But we cannot let their suffering be in vain. We must re-engage in a nationwide conversation about climate change, and what we must do to combat it and reverse it.
The longer we don’t address climate change, the tougher it’ll be to mitigate the impact of future disasters. We must demand our leaders prioritize the health of our planet so that we can create a better, safer environment for our children.
Let’s remember what Hurricane Katrina did — and what Harvey is doing — to our families, friends, and neighbors. And let’s help our fellow Americans because it’s the right thing to do.
Make a donation of $1, $5, $10, or anything you can to help the people in Texas who are suffering from Harvey. Every little bit helps.
