Later today in the Budget Committee, Senate Republicans are attempting to advance their dangerous plan to cut taxes for the top 1% and asking millions of middle-class Americans to pay for it.
I will be voting NO on this dangerous bill — and if enough of my colleagues join me, we can win this fight before it even starts.
I admit that defeating this bill in committee is a long shot, but a few of my Republican colleagues have already expressed skepticism about this plan — and we have to give this fight everything we’ve got to stop them from throwing working and middle-class families under the bus.
The Republican tax plan would raise taxes on lower-income families over the next decade in order to give massive tax cuts to corporations and the top 1% of Americans. That’s not how you strengthen the middle class.
What’s even more shameful: the details of this plan reveal a direct attack on homeowners, students, lower-income Americans, and small business owners — all of whom are struggling enough already.
All that on top of an estimated 13 million Americans becoming uninsured and premiums going up across the board.
