This morning, Kamala joined The Breakfast Club radio show to talk about bail reform, legalizing marijuana, and what we can do to ensure everyone has a fair shot at the American Dream.

During the interview, Charlamagne asked Kamala if she had ever smoked marijuana before — and she joked: “Half of my family is from Jamaica, are you kidding me?!”

All jokes aside — like the majority of Americans, Kamala believes it’s far past time to legalize marijuana. It’s 2019. We need to stop living in a punitive “War on Drugs” mindset and focus on how we can legalize marijuana nationwide.

It’s time to legalize marijuana nationwide. Add your name next to Kamala’s if you agree.

Here’s the truth: Black Americans use marijuana at roughly the same rate as white Americans, but are approximately four times more likely to be arrested for possession.

It’s clear: our country’s marijuana laws at the local and federal levels are not fair or practical in application or enforcement, and disproportionately harm communities of color. Criminalizing marijuana has done nothing but ruin people’s lives and contribute to America’s mass incarceration crisis.

As president, Kamala will work with Congress to legalize marijuana — and, more importantly, fight to enact restorative justice policies that will expunge non-violent marijuana-related offenses from the records of the millions of people who have been incarcerated.

Add your name if you agree: it’s time to legalize marijuana nationwide.

During her interview, she told the folks at The Breakfast Club that marijuana “gives a lot of people joy — and we need more joy in the world.” We couldn’t agree more.

Thanks for adding your voice to this critical issue. The stakes are too high to sit this fight out.
