Our momentum continues with the backing of Public Safety, Trade, Education and Healthcare Unions for our campaign. Labor groups representing millions of California workers have endorsed Rusty Hicks for Chair of the California Democratic Party.
“SEIU Local 2015, representing more than 375,000 long-term workers across California, proudly endorses Rusty Hicks for Chair of the California Democratic Party,” said April Verrett, President, SEIU 2015. “Rusty shares in our vision of a California in which everyone has an opportunity to thrive regardless of religious belief, gender, ethnicity, immigration status, or sexual orientation, and has stood with us in our efforts to make that vision a reality.”
“I’m honored to have backing of my labor brothers and sisters who fight everyday for fair wages and benefits so workers can provide for their families,” said Rusty Hicks. “As Chair of the California Democratic Party, I will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with workers who have helped make California the fifth largest economy in the world.”
Rusty currently serves as President of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, which is comprised of more than 300 local unions that represent 800,000 workers. At the LA Fed, Rusty increased the diversity of its leadership, helped lead the “Fight for 15” campaign first in LA then statewide, created a jobs training program for formerly incarcerated men and women and place them in union jobs, he advocates “Medicare for All” including for undocumented immigrants, and Rusty helped strengthen worker protections against sexual harassment and assault.
