This weekend, we honor the working women and men who make California the Golden State. The Labor Movement is an indispensable voice for working people in our country. Strong, healthy and active unions are one of the best tools we have to reduce the gaping chasm of inequality between the wealthy and the workers in our country.
Here in California, we have made historic gains for working families in recent years, including paid sick leave for all workers, overtime for farm workers, and a $15 minimum wage.
But we also know we have so much more work to do – and that we’ve never faced an administration more committed to outright eliminating the right to organize and collectively bargain.
This Labor Day weekend we must reflect on the gains we have made for workers, and on the critical work that we have in front of us.
Please take a moment and share this video highlighting the importance of Unions to a fair and prosperous economy:
And this insightful commentary by California Labor Federation Executive Secretary-Treasurer Art Pulaski:
This Labor Day, let’s remember the value of work

The California Democratic Party will summon every ounce of energy and determination at our disposal to resist efforts to weaken Unions – and we will fight just as hard to elect Democrats who will advance workers rights and the Labor Movement.
