It’s corruption, plain and simple

The guy in the White House isn’t the cause of what’s broken in America.

He’s just the worst and latest symptom of a system that works great for the rich and powerful — and no one else. A system that rigs the rules for the wealthy and well-connected and kicks dirt in everyone else’s face.

We’ve seen this for years. Republican leaders like Mitch McConnell have served at the beck and call of billionaires and CEOs.

When you see a government that only works great for those with money and power, that’s corruption, plain and simple. We’ve got to call it out. And we’ve got to fight back.

No one is above the law or beyond accountability — not even the president of the United States.

We saw what Mitch McConnell did to President Obama — how he spent years exploiting Senate rules and putting small-minded partisanship ahead of solving our country’s problems.

And for decades, the rich and powerful have been hollowing out America’s middle class by twisting who Washington works for.

We have a government that works fabulously for giant drug companies. It just doesn’t work for people trying to fill a prescription.

We have a government that works terrifically for giant financial institutions. Just not for families trying to make it payday to payday and not get ripped off.

We have a government that works great for giant oil companies that want to drill everywhere. Just not for the rest of us who see climate change bearing down upon us.

So it’s going to take big, structural change to make Washington work for working people, not just a thin slice at the top.

I’ve got the biggest anti-corruption plan since Watergate. I’ve got plans to level the playing field so everyone gets a fighting chance at the American dream.
