Donald Trump talks a lot about all the great things he and his administration have done. But I don’t listen to what he says — I watch what he does. What he’s done is to put our health, our safety, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the future of our children at risk.
Let’s compare that to what we’ve done in California. So far, my office has filed 23 lawsuits against the Trump Administration in federal court to protect the environment, because if the federal government won’t do its job, we have to fight to hold them accountable.
When you hear the word “environmentalist,” you might think of someone driving a shiny new hybrid car to work, but people in low-income communities who ride the bus are just as concerned about being efficient, because they can’t afford to not be.
Finding practical solutions to environmental issues is going to require input from different perspectives and an influx of fresh ideas. That’s why, today at the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco, I called on activists and advocates there to work with environmentalists of every background, whether they ride a bus, a bicycle, or a Prius, and bring everyone to the table.
