At his 2020 campaign launch rally last night, President Trump claimed to be “building the wall.” That seems like a questionable claim since Congress repeatedly declined to approve funding and a coalition of our partners has temporarily blocked his attempt to divert funds to build it.
President Trump should know this, too, since today his lawyers are expected to reply to our lawsuit in federal court.
No matter their argument, we already know this “national emergency” is nothing but an illegal attempt to build the President’s xenophobic wall along the southern border.
When President Trump decided to skirt the rule of law and declare an emergency to fund his vanity project at the southern border, there was no question that we’d fight back.
I’m leading California and a coalition of 20 states in this legal challenge, but at this critical moment, we need to know that we have the support of people like you all across the nation.
