Hi Friends,

I fundamentally believe that health care can and should be a right for everyone — not just a privilege for just those who can afford it.

As an optometrist who has dedicated much of my career to providing care to low-income individuals, and as a state lawmaker who has spent the last seven years of my life working to successfully implement the Affordable Care Act in California, I understand just how deeply personal the issue of health care is for the people of our state.

Through Covered California and the Medi-Cal expansion, we’ve been able to provide health care coverage to millions of more people than ever before.

That said, the reality is that we still have more work to do to ensure coverage for everyone. Earlier this week, I voted in support of SB 562, health care for ALL Californians.

I’m running for Lieutenant Governor of California to build on our state’s progress and success, leading the way nationally on a variety of issues benefitting our residents. California has fully embraced implementation of the ACA and we’re helping students afford a higher education and graduate on time.

We’ve championed landmark environmental policy to protect our beautiful state and we’ve shown a commitment to rebuilding our state’s roads, freeways and bridges. In addition, we’ve raised wages and passed the strongest wage equity law in the country. California does not stand for fear or intimidation of its residents and we’re protecting them and lifting them up no matter their background.

Thanks for everything you do to make our Party, and California, a beacon of hope and progress.

Best,
Dr. Ed Hernandez, O.D.
