I am proud to have received the endorsement of the UDW Home Care Providers!Home Care providers do some truly amazing work, providing dignity, independence, and quality of life for those they care for. However, these workers who care for our elderly and those with disabilities are paid some of the lowest wages and don’t have adequate paid sick days, retirement security, or access to quality healthcare. I will always be a champion for the men and women who put the lives and well-being of others before their own.
The #MaSquad had a great lunch and discussion with special guest Caitlin D’Aprano, Founder of Will Powered Woman: A 501(c)(3) nonprofit that seeks to prevent intimate partner abuse and support women who have been affected by raising awareness at high schools, universities, and businesses. We need to stand with survivors and erase the stigma associated with abuse, and I am proud of the work Will Powered Woman does.
In 2010, California Women Lead launched a coalition of organizations committed to inspiring, training, and recruiting women to apply for state, board, or commission appointments within the Brown Administration. As immediate Past President of CA Women Lead, I am proud that we achieved our goal of 50 percent female representation among state appointees in 2015. It is the highest percentage of women serving in appointed office in our state’s history.
I had a great time at the California Democratic Party Executive Board meeting in Oakland last month! As a lifelong Democrat, I am proud of what our party stands for, and our continued fight to defend our shared values against the Trump administration’s dangerous agenda.
With fires continuing to burn throughout California, I hope you will join me in supporting our firefighters as they risk their personal health and safety to keep our homes and families safe. As someone who is married to a firefighter, I know firsthand the toll these battles take on all those affected.
