The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

There has been so much going on that it is hard to decide what issues should get top priority. But I wanted to make sure that the actions of Donald Trump and the GOP in the House didn’t get overlooked from last week.

Last week, women’s rights were trampled on when the House voted to take away birth control from millions of women nationwide simply because their employer doesn’t agree with their personal decisions involving their health.

Let me be clear: This is a women’s health issue and it should be a decision that SHE makes with the help of family and doctors, not her boss or her government.

I trust women to make their own health decisions, that’s why I’m a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood and the work they do in our community and throughout our nation.

I’m ready to hit the ground running on day one after being elected to strongly oppose roll backs to this popular and crucial component of the Affordable Care Act. The only people who should be in the conversation on birth control and women’s health should be a woman, her doctor, and her family. Period.
