20 million women and 10 million men suffer from clinically significant eating disorders in the U.S. at some point in their life. As someone who battled an eating disorder in college, I know firsthand how important awareness, outreach, and treatment is in overcoming an eating disorder. Thank you to Senators Bill Dodd and Scott Wiener for sponsoring this year’s resolution to raise awareness and help break the stigma around eating disorders, the SF Commission on the Status of Women for officially recognizing Eating Disorder Awareness Week, and the Cielo House and Project HEAL for championing this issue.
